Care Guide
Our woodwork is made to last for years. With the right care, it ages beautifully.
1. Placement and environment
- Keep pieces indoors or in covered spaces, away from direct rain and harsh sunlight.
- Avoid placing near heat sources like stoves, or in direct air from an AC vent.
- Keep indoor humidity stable to prevent expansion or cracks.
2. Cleaning
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- For a deeper clean use a slightly damp cloth. Never wet wipe.
- Dust carved panels and statues gently with a soft brush or a blower.
3. Polishing and finishes
- Pieces arrive pre-finished with sealer and wood polish, using minimal chemicals.
- Re-polish once every few years if the wood looks dry or dull.
- On doors, apply teak or linseed oil every 6 to 12 months.
- Avoid chemical sprays unless we have recommended them. Ask us if you are unsure.
4. Moving and fixing
- Handle large pieces like doors and mandapams carefully when moving them.
- For temple carts and other heavy pieces, talk to us before relocating.
- Wall-mounted pieces need sturdy brackets and professional installation.
A note on our craftsmanship
Every piece is machine-sculpted and hand-finished. Grain, colour and small details vary from one piece to the next. That variation is part of the craft, not a defect.
