Our Story
Chithira Maadam was founded to preserve South Indian heritage and traditional Chettinad craftsmanship. We work from a studio in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
Elakkiya, Founder
Elakkiya brings an academic background in history alongside a personal commitment to cultural sustainability.
This studio is my way of preserving traditional wooden artistry, not as relics of the past, but as living forms that belong in today's homes.
Ilangovan, Studio Head and Co-founder
Ilangovan is a photographer whose work documented temple architecture, festivals and sacred design. He moved from recording those traditions to making pieces that let people bring heritage into daily life. His wider work spans writing, natural farming and heritage education.
A place where memory becomes material.
Who we make for
Residences, temples, corporate offices, resorts and cultural institutions. Every piece is rooted in historical and artistic tradition, machine-sculpted and hand-finished.
